Black SEL Summer Institute 2026

The Black SEL Summer Institute is a free five-day immersive program designed for students in grades 6-12 to explore the Black SEL Framework in community and cultivate leadership skills rooted in social justice and liberation. Our program engages students in activities and learning aligned with the Black SEL framework that increase their confidence, deepens their resolve, and supports their long-term commitment to themselves, their community, and our collective future. As students learn about themselves, history, the experiences of their peers, and the assets and needs of their community, they develop a sense of identity, purpose, and an understanding of how to leverage their gifts in talents to create their current and future reality.

Objective: To cultivate community and a sense of belonging and connection while cultivating confidence, ReSELience™, advocacy, and activism. We aim to extend the reach of this impactful work by inviting students, communities, and families across the state of North Carolina to actively participate in this transformative experience.
