JUNE 16-20, 2024

This Summer Institute is a 5-day immersive program that will cultivate emotional well-being for Black students between the ages of 13-18 years old.  This institute will explore our Black SEL Framework, integrating the five competencies of SEL.

Through civic engagement, we empower Black students to actively contribute to their communities.

The Black SEL Hub Summer Institute delves into the lived experiences of Black students regarding social-emotional development. Our goal is to equip students to manage conflict constructively, regulate emotions, make responsible decisions, and positively contribute to both classroom and community settings.

WHY?

Black students continually encounter and must navigate:

Students will undergo training in:

  • Social Justice Skills
  • Racial Equity
  • African-American Historic Leadership
  • Workforce Development
  • Character Development
  • Understanding the Political Landscape
  • Exploring Media Diets

Students will learn how to:

  • Negotiate Conflict Constructively
  • Regulate Emotions
  • Make Responsible Descisions
  • Contribute Positively to Any Classroom or Community
