PANEL DISCUSSION
Black SEL & The Black Student Experience Panel: This panel will discuss the current state of black students in America and their lived experiences through the lens of social-emotional learning. Black SEL is a network of dedicated black leaders and allies that understand the importance of Social-Emotional Learning and are committed to building systems that will sustain these practices in black communities. Social-Emotional Learning Definition (CASEL): SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.
Please note: Students have come to share their voices and beliefs, and we want to ensure this is a safe space for them. We ask that you listen and perspective take on ways that you can relate to and understand our black youth.
Black SEL Members are first to receive exclusive access to Social Emotional Learning Resources. To watch the full panel discussion, join our Black SEL Summit Membership…it’s FREE!
Black SEL offers 4 Sponsor levels for this year’s Summit! Sponsor packages include a District Level sponsorship to ensure educators can attend. Contact us today to become a Sponsor or Vendor.
Black SEL is about acknowledging the ways that SEL competencies have been present in black communities long before the designation or study of social-emotional learning.
